Technology and architecture consulting
Independent advice on architecture, platforms and delivery
Architecture reviews, technology selection, integration strategy and delivery plans, written down and ready to act on.
Overview
Big technology decisions are hard to reverse: which ERP to extend or replace, how to connect a growing number of banks and partners, whether a platform can carry the next stage of the business. They are often made under time pressure, with advice from vendors who sell one answer.
Our consultants are practising architects and engineers. We review your systems, code, integrations and delivery practices, compare the options on cost, risk and fit, and recommend the one we would choose in your position, with the reasons and the trade-offs written down.
Every engagement ends in documents your team can act on: an architecture, a decision record, a phased roadmap and an estimate. If you then want XSIS to deliver, the same people can stay involved. If you prefer another supplier or your own team, the plan stands on its own.
What we deliver
Current-state assessment
Your systems, integrations, data flows, code quality and delivery practices, with the risks ranked by impact.
Target architecture
Diagrams and a written description of where your systems should go, and how the parts connect.
Technology and vendor comparison
Options compared against your requirements, costs and constraints, with a clear recommendation.
Integration strategy
How your ERP, banks, POS and partners should connect: patterns, platforms, standards and ownership.
Security and resilience review
Gaps in access control, data protection, recovery and monitoring, with practical fixes in order of priority.
Phased roadmap
The work in phases, each with its outcome, dependencies, decision points and the skills it needs.
Effort and cost estimate
A range for each phase, with the assumptions behind it, so you can budget and compare proposals.
Decision records
Each significant decision written down with its context, the options considered and why one was chosen.
How we work
- 01
Agree the question
We agree the decision to be made, who makes it, the constraints and what a useful answer looks like.
- 02
Discover
We interview your teams, read the documentation and code, and look at the systems as they run.
- 03
Analyse the options
We compare the realistic options on cost, risk, effort and fit, and test the assumptions with your experts.
- 04
Recommend
We present a recommendation with its reasons, trade-offs and risks, and revise it after your challenge.
- 05
Plan the next steps
We turn the decision into a phased roadmap and estimate, ready for budgeting and procurement.

Ways to work with us
Questions and answers
Is your advice independent of the vendors you mention?
Yes. Naming a product on this site does not mean a partnership with its vendor, and our recommendation follows your requirements, skills and budget, including keeping what you have when that is the better answer. If we would like to deliver the work ourselves, we say so openly, and the plan is written so any competent team can deliver it.
Link to this questionWhen is a consulting engagement worth it?
Before a decision that is expensive to reverse: choosing or replacing an ERP or core platform, designing how many banks and partners will connect, moving to the cloud, or recovering a project that is late. It is also useful before raising investment or buying a company, when you need an outside view of a technology estate. For small, reversible choices, a short call is usually enough.
Link to this questionWhat do we receive at the end?
Written documents, not just a presentation: an assessment of the current state, a target architecture, the options compared with a recommendation, decision records, and a phased roadmap with an estimate and its assumptions. We walk your team through each one and update them after your review.
Link to this questionHow is a consulting engagement priced?
Usually as a fixed scope with a fixed fee, agreed after a short scoping conversation, or as a number of consultant days for open-ended advisory work. The price depends on the size of the estate to review, the number of options to compare and the depth of analysis the decision needs. You see the price and the timeline before we start.
Link to this questionHow long does an assessment take?
It depends on the size of the question and how quickly we can reach the people, documents and systems involved. A focused review of one system or decision is short; an assessment of a whole technology estate takes longer. We agree the scope and the date of the final readout before we start.
Link to this questionWhat access do you need to our systems?
Usually read-only access to documentation, code repositories, architecture diagrams and monitoring, plus time with the people who run the systems. We do not need production data for most reviews. Access is granted to named people, under a non-disclosure agreement, and removed when the engagement ends.
Link to this questionCan you help deliver the plan afterwards?
Yes, if you want us to. The same architects can stay on to guide delivery, and we can provide a dedicated team, augment your own engineers or deliver a defined project. There is no obligation: the roadmap is yours to deliver with any supplier or your own team.
Link to this questionWill you sign a non-disclosure agreement?
Yes. We will sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before you share anything confidential, on your template or ours. Everyone who works on your project is bound by confidentiality obligations, whether they are XSIS employees or members of an outsourced team.
